BioMAC

BioMAC Functional Microbial Fertilizer

"Biomac" is a microbe-based bio-fertilizer in solid form of processed palm oil mill waste from Sabah. It contains high microbial population of 107 (gram) of solid five versatile strains of microbe, namely Bacillus Cereus, and the microbial strains that are closely related to Bacillus Thuringiensis. The microbes are isolated from the roots of oil palm trees, grown in Sabah.

In the bio-fertilizer production process, the microbes are multiplied in liquid-state-fermentation and then incorporated in palm oil mill waste as the growth medium for mass-production through solid-state-fermentation until reaching a stable phase.

The total content of the major essential plant nutrients (N, P205, K2O, CaO and MgO) is at around 9 -12%. It also contains high amount of micronutrients. All the plant nutrients are derived from palm oil mill waste.

It is a patented product of the International Cooperative Research Program (ICRP) between Ultimate Bio-tech Sdn Bhd and Korean Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB).

Advantages
  • BioMAC contains high population (107/g fertilizer) of viable effective microbes.
  • It is in solid form of fermented matured palm oil mill waste, which is an excellent medium for good quality keeping of microbes and serves as substrate for sustaining microbe activities after field application.
  • The microbes, which are indigenous isolates derived from oil palm roots in Sabah, are expected to perform better under local conditions than the introduced strains.
  • It is proven to be not only cost effective in increasing crop productivity and economic gain but also environmental friendly for sustainable development.
  • Being a microbial product, the use of BioMAC in conjunction with appropriate agronomic practices will improve soil health for long term sustainable land development.
  • Under the  International Cooperative Research Program (ICRP) with Korean Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB), the R&D efforts will lead to continuous advancement in quality product development of BioMAC and product efficacy to serve the need of the planting industry in Sabah.

Benefits of BioMAC
  • Produces plant hormones to enhance root development, plant growth and yield* (+20 to 50%) and improve product quality.
  • Enhances uptake and efficient use of nutrients : minimizes the loss of nutrients through leaching to the environment.
  • Increases the solubility of fixed or unavailable nutrients in soils and applied fertilizers for use by the plants : reduces the need of fertilizer input and cost saving (Figure 1)
  • To have antifungal and induced systemic resistant effects against a wide spectrum of plant diseases and pest: reduces crop loss from pest and diseases, minimizes the use of pesticides and cost saving (Figure 2).
